I wouldn't mind having a nickel for every time I've heard someone make fun of Arnold Schwarzenegger pronouncing the name of the state he governs as /Collie-FORN-yah/. Never mind that, as a native speaker of German, he carries on the way they often pronounce foreign words more closely to how the natives say them than we do; ask a Spanish speaker to say "California" and it will be a lot closer to /AH-nult/'s pronunciation than the average American's, and German "Kaiser" sounds a heck of a lot more like classical Latin "Caesar" than English /SEE-zer/.

OTOH, the Obamessiah's affected /TOLLY-bahn/ and /POCKY-stahn/ raise nary a peep. Curious, that.
