Merry Christmas from Tux... OK, from Linus

The 2.6.28 kernel is soon to be released. Amongst its weaponry are such diverse elements as:
  • ext4
  • GEM (no, not that old windowing interface for the Atari ST; Graphics Execution Manager, a memory manager for video RAM; expect improved graphics performance (yay!))
  • wireless USB (so I'm hoping that USB wi-fi thing I bought back in January 2008 will no longer be a paperweight for me)
  • KVM improvements (you can assign PCI devices to virtual machines)
So I'm happy, and hoping that this kernel will make its way into the Intrepid Ibex repositories soon.
