Zogby did a poll of people who voted for Obama. 97.1% had at least a high school diploma, and 55% were college graduates. The questions were multiple choice, each with four possible answers listed (with two exceptions--see below), so a random number generator would on the average score 25%.

The results? Most could parrot the negative coverage of McCain and Palin, but they couldn't correctly answer questions about Obama and Biden:
  • 57.4% got the question "which party controls Congress?" wrong (a coin flip would on average give better results)
  • 81.8% didn't know that Biden quit a previous campaign because of charges of plagiarism
  • 82.6% didn't know that Obama first came to office by getting all his opponents thrown off the ballot
  • 88.4% didn't know that Obama said his policies would bankrupt the coal industry
  • 56.1% didn't know that Obama began his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (another case in which a coin flip would, on average, give better results)
