Barack Obama: Memorial Day at Bernie's?

Today Barack Obama gave a Memorial Day speech in New Mexico, starting out with the following, which I think tops about anything attributed to Dan Quayle: "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."

I missed out on the network news this afternoon, but I'd bet that there wasn't a word said or a video clip shown. Had it been GWB or John McClain, we'd never hear the end of it.

(Then there's the speech in which Obama said that during the campaign he'd been to fifty-seven states, and had one more left to visit...  This is the fellow who supposedly appeals to the young and educated?)

UPDATE: 3:18 a.m., and CBS's all-night news program just got through running clips of GWB and the candidates speaking on Memorial Day. They did in fact include the above quoted words of Obama, without comment, and I am astonished that the audience managed to remain silent--or they had very good directional microphones.

It also just occurred to me that maybe I should have titled this entry

Barack Obama: "I see dead people"
