spiffy lodgings

We're in Kirksville, MO, for a heraldic, scribal, and dance symposium tomorrow. Tonight we are staying at the Establishment Formerly Known as Traveler's Inn Bed and Breakfast.

If you should ever find yourself in Kirksville and needing to stay at a hotel or motel, I urge you to consider this establishment. It's so art deco that for a second we felt like we had flashed back to the former Kirkwood Hotel in Des Moines where the Central Iowa Repertory Theatre Company put on Hughie in a double bill with The Lady of Larkspur Lotion (in which irpooh played the landlady). Each room has a theme, and the one we're staying in is—well, I'm not sure how to describe it. Some walls are corrugated metal, some are faux cracked paint. Furniture reminiscent of my paternal grandparents', save that their bed didn't have a Chevy pickup tailgate as its head.

Wireless Internet is still being worked on (we saw a stack of Netgear boxes when we came in), but is working fine in our room now and I doubt it will take them long to get good signals to all the rooms.
