From a pizza box...

...via sideband:

Interesting questions on a pizza hut box.. "5 questions parents can ask their kids."

1. Who is your favorite character from a book?

Wiz Zumwalt, from Rick Cook's series of novels.

2. What is your favorite animal, and why?

Dogs. Dogs give you unconditional love. Cats deign to let you serve them, and think you're doing a lousy job at that.

3. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Darned if I know.

4. What's your favorite song?

That's one of those questions I can never answer, because I can't stop with one song. But if I must... "When I Go," composed by Dave Carter, but performed by Bob Cook and Gary Audsley. (I very much regret to say that Starry Night—The Coffee Connection is no more, and that it's been way too long since I've heard Bob and Gary perform. One day I'll put up some of the photos I was able to take...one in particular with Gary on the bass, apparently in rapt communion with his muse, is a shot I am honored to have gotten.)

5. Who has been your favorite teacher?

Mr. Townshend (no, not Pete), from back in sixth grade, who had us compete for milk money by looking stuff up. Thanks to him, "acetabulum," the name of the socket portion of the hip joint (so named because it reminded someone of a vinegar bowl, or acetabulum in Latin), is forever engraved in my memory.

Drool-worthy object

My lady wife likes Macintoshes a lot.

Today Apple has officially announced what was leaked a while back... the Mac mini. (I presume they went for that ordering to avoid lots of Austin Powers jokes, but I doubt it will be successful.) This is darned tempting, though the hard drive capacities they come with are rather wimpy for this day and age.
